Sustainable, Streamlined Simplicity

We’re all trying to help look after our endangered planet, in whatever ways we can. As ever at EHG Home, our primary focus and overriding obsession is for all things ‘home’ and most importantly, how best we can deliver flexible and cost effective staging and homecare services you’ll love, whilst maintaining a responsible styling approach. Our objective this year, more than ever before, has been to work in a conscious, considered and sustainable way.

So! Our mantra for 2020 was Sustainable, Streamlined Simplicity - and how best to achieve and maintain it.  Never have those age old sayings been more applicable than where sustainability is concerned – Less is DEFINITELY More and it’s Quality over Quantity EVERY TIME. We are not about jumping on the latest interior trends for this, that or the other, feeding an endless conveyor belt of quick fix, inexpensive, badly made products to keep up with the changing fads. Being a slave to trends feeds into the wealth of non-recyclable packaging, cheap labour, C02 pollution from transportation, waste – not to mention a never ending cycle of cushions and furniture we don’t actually need, much less have the space for. Instead, we have curated our signature Laid Back Luxury style by skilfully blending an eclectic mix of furniture and thoughtfully chosen accessories, sourced and collected over the years from all over the world, bringing that individual EHG HOME personality to all our interior styling.

And at the start of the year we took this streamlined and simplistic approach and applied it to our website too. We pared back the copy and adopted a more concise and direct approach to communicate the fabulous and varied services we have to offer. There’s something for everyone, whatever your budget and there’s plenty to choose from. Do you have an empty property to sell that you would like to stage? Furniture rental is the obvious environmentally friendly option, as opposed to purchasing pieces to dress a property that may be unsuitable or completely redundant in your new home. We will select furniture that will best enhance and maximise the space enabling viewers to visualise themselves living there, and all in our laid back luxury style that will appeal across the board. Maybe you plan to live in your house while it’s on the market? With our Combo Staging PACKAGE we will work with what you already have, combining the best of ‘yours’ with an injection of ‘ours’ – again, cutting down unnecessary expenditure and ‘fast furniture’ solutions. Or perhaps your home or Airbnb rental is looking tired and outdated, but you haven’t the time, budget, or know-how to do anything about it? Why not borrow new, nearly new, pre-loved and vintage pieces from us? EHG Prop is our genius and flexible solution for renting beautiful pieces on a short or medium term rental, enabling you to try out new styles and influences without paying a fortune or being forced to commit and again, reducing the potential for waste.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes back at EHG Home HQ, we’ve been busy reassessing and reconsidering our stock in tune with our Sustainable, Streamlined, Simplistic approach.  Of course we want to keep things fresh and it’s fair to say there are some pieces that no longer work for us, but landfill will be the absolute last place you’ll find them! We’ve been putting our efforts into selling and donating unwanted items, and where possible, upcycling and repurposing, to give some treasured pieces a glorious facelift and new lease of life within our collection. And when additions are necessary, we are looking to buy more second hand and vintage pieces locally to restore, which not only brings character and personality to our stock, but reduces the carbon footprint of our products and helps invest in our local economy….win, win!

Before and After

Before and After

Check out these beautiful bamboo bedside tables, purchased second hand from Shpock. We wanted to keep the rattan exposed in all its natural glory, but also to inject a hit of colour. We used Barnaby Gates seahorse fabric which we adore – be sure to pick something that flatters or enlivens your current colour scheme or a favourite vintage fabric or wallpaper – and invested in some Annie Sloan’s chalk paint to see what all the fuss is about. We are SO happy with the result and can’t wait to use them in our styling projects.

So here’s to a Sustainable, Streamlined and Simplistic rest of the year (and beyond!) with EHG Home – we can’t wait to work with you, so give us a call.
