EHG NIGHTS.

We are now 2 weeks into British Winter time…(which kicked in on October 28th and ends on March 31st for those upcoming post-christmas lunch trivia quizzes!) with the year slowly but surely winding down, and the shorter days and longer nights, we thought we would share our must-haves for the perfect cosy night in, EHG style.

Keeping it simple is the key for us, good food, good wine, a festive film (come on, who doesn’t still watch ELF every year?!) and a few little accents around the home to lift the mood, and some much needed time out are all we need for the perfect night in.

The Dinner

Winter food should be rich and comforting. We love this easy recipe from Theo Randall for a Beef & Porcini Stew. On a cold night, there’s nothing quite like a steaming and tasty bowl of stew. Imagine the delicious wafts of this gently cooking filling up your home!  This recipe is also also perfect for a social gathering, simple, satisfying and plentiful.

The Wine

The colder weather calls for lashings of red wine! EHG loves a homegrown wine, this English Pinot Noir is a sophisticated and velvety smooth wine with aromas of vanilla, roasted coffee, cherry and cocoa and with flavours of dark fruits including blackcurrant, strawberry and raspberry and a hint of oak.

Pinot noir is also one of the most versatile red wines to match with food, and a great option when one of you is eating meat and the other fish - so a perfect tipple for sharing!

The Candle

The winter months require a candle scent that is cosy and enveloping. We love candles with notes of frankincense, patchouli, leather, ginger, amber, pine, smoke and anything woody. A blend of these should be anything from heady and warming (think a night by the fire!) to fresh and brisk (think of a Sunday walk in a forest of pine trees!).

EHG loves Scandi-chic, and we have recently discovered the gorgeous brand Skandinavisk. this candle fills the home with delicate scents of wintery forests and freshly fallen snow on coniferous trees.

Buy one for yourself and a few as Christmas Gifts - perfect for anyone’s stocking!

EHG loves Seven-Seventeen’s new collection of rejuvenating bath salts, the wonder of salts are often missed next to the plentiful array of perfumed bubble bath oils, salts deeply penetrate your body’s muscles making it the perfect way to wind down before bed.
